Pure frustration. The devices are poor quality and the software is buggy
As stated on other reviews, the device has trouble connecting to some routers or access points. It connected with no problems to my Ubiquiti networks access point and a TP-Link Archer router, but it would not connect to a Linksys router. Another reviewer states that the sensor “is excellent if used correctly” and that makes no sense. If the product follows the IEEE 802.11 standard, it should connect to any router of reasonable quality. I have to point out that many other Sonoff devices connect correctly to the Linksys router, but the DW2-WiFi sensors do not, so it is not a problem with the router. Either the sensors do not correctly follow the IEEE 802.11 standard or the wireless card in it is poor quality and incompatible with certain routers.
On different subject, if you pair those with an NS Panel Pro, expect many false alarms. If you enable the home or sleep mode on the NS Panel, it will go off every 5-10 min, reporting a door or window was opened but it wasn’t. When you check the log, there are no record of opening or closing. Sonoff tech support tried to make up an excuse that the sensor was going offline and back online and that was triggering the false alarms, however, that is absolutely false. The Ubiquiti access point has a dashboard that shows the length of the current wireless session and the DW2 sensors have had an interrupted connection since the AP last rebooted. After calling them on their fake claims, they told me that it would be fixed in a future firmware upgrade. So now I have five sensors that do not work properly. Buy at your own risk!
See video where the NS Panel Pro shows a false alarm at 18:22 hrs but the log shows that the door was last closed at 17:37 hrs and it hasn’t been opened since.
